Outlawing Strikes Solves Nothing

A recent New York Times opinion points out that outlawing worker strikes will not stop them. Four of the five teachers' strikes this year were illegal under the law of the states in which they occurred. The United States has a long history of illegal labor actions in which workers risk firing, fines, and even jail time because their grievances have not been addressed. Because teachers have been taking it on the chin in recent years with tax-cut frenzy coming at the expense of school budgets, expect more unrest despite laws outlawing stikes in 36 states.
