I have often written about the ways that workers' compensation insurance companies try to rig the system by buying off friendly legislators.  I recently wrote an article on a related topic:  how insurance companies rig the legal system to cheat injured workers. In "The Top Ten Ways Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Insurance Companies Cheat Injured Workers", I describe some of the basic ways that insurance companies try to stack the deck in their favor, including sending injured workers to medical facilities controlled by them, using physicians to perform "anything but independent" medical evaluations, and slow paying or low paying the medical bills of injured workers.  There are remedies available for some of this behavior, but in general insurance companies can get away with this behavior with no sanction.
