Pennsylvania House Considering Bill to Fight Opioid Abuse Among Injured Workers

According to a June 2016 Workers Compensation Research Institute study, Pennsylvania workers injured on the job have the third highest rate of opioid prescriptions in the nation. In February, Representative Ryan McKenzie introduced a bill that would require physicians to follow evidence-based standards for prescribing opioid painkillers. The bill was referred to the Labor and Industry committee and has not come up for a floor vote.
